Why I have started leaving a paperback where my phone used to be.

I read on screens too. This is not an argument about the correct way to read.
But a paper book makes one useful promise: while it is open, it will only be a book. It will not turn into work, a group chat, or breaking news.
I have started writing small questions in the margins. Sometimes I disagree with a sentence. Sometimes I want to remember where my mind went.
You can read a book without turning it into an achievement.
My evening ritual is a lamp, a glass of water, and a few pages. Some nights it is twenty. Some nights it is three. Both count.
What are you reading at the moment?
